I bought this mat to go over my wood flooring so that I can do stretching and some other exercise routines. It's a GREAT mat.
It's a high quality mat that's real sticky and doesn't move at all during fast-paced yoga. It's nicely cushioned and the static yoga poses now feel so much better.
It's thick and comfortable, not sticky but keeps me in place. It's easy to clean and seems like it will last a lifetime.
I am enjoying this mat tremendously! It is very supportive throughout the entire yoga class.
The chemical smell that I had read about is definitely noticeable the first few times you use it but goes away rather quickly. It's a lovely, high quality mat. This is a must buy! Very durable for all of his activities and easy to roll up and put away. This is the Mercedes of yoga mats and padded enough for Pilates too. It is pricey, but you will not be disappointed!
I purchased this mat for one reason and one reason only. It's great for stretching exercises. I was unable to hold any of the poses that required stretching my legs and feet without slipping. After spending $80 on this mat I was not ready to spend another $50 on a yoga towel to cover it. She has been using hers for over 2 years and it still looks like new. It took a few weeks for the coating (makes it a little slippery at first) and the scent to dissipate, but after the initial break-in period, this mat has stood up to lots of wear. I'm pretty bummed about this mat. I never slipped on my crappy old mat, no matter how wet and sweaty, and on this one I am fighting the mat in every Down Dog, even when it's dry.
As for the size...I love it. I am 5'9" and I like a deep Warrior pose - with this mat, I don't have to worry about going over the edge. I give this three stars because although my hands and feet continue to slide, I guess that it helps me work a little harder to hold my poses firmer and longer and it is a very plush mat. I guess I need to scrub it down again! This is a wonderful mat. It will take your practice to a new level and last a lifetime.
