Books telling the story and the facts of World War II can be extremely valuable to the contemporary reader in so many different ways.

Learn from the past! This is the first thing you should always remember. Everything your ancestors did, good or bad, can provide precious insight for the present and for the future. With WWII, this lesson is even more important given its significance for the course of history.

Books about World War II are testimonials of one of the darkest eras of humankind, which is why reading these kind of books reveals an entire world very different from the one we're living in today, teaching us to be thankful for the present.

Learning how others strived to live during the war and even in the years after, which were extremely dark and difficult years, can teach one to be more thankful and respectful to the simple, but so important things that he or she has.

History is very much like a spiral, with the same patterns manifesting again and again over its course, as remote as they might be in time and as differently as they might occur. The study of history emphasizes these patterns and it can help people make predictions about the future.

People make the future, but they are also responsible for the past. World War II proves that sometimes, though, people forget to connect past, present and future, and they make decisions ignoring mistakes done in the past and their violent consequences.

Wars are usually discussed in terms of politics and military decisions and outcomes. But sometimes, war stories talk about human tragedy, which is affecting those dying on the field as well as those left home crying their deaths.

Of all wars, World War II was maybe the most atrocious, which makes its story a terrible story of death. However, reading and learning about it can transform it into a great lesson for life.
