As a dad of kids who are prepared to travel this fall I made sure the insurance plan I was taking out included the replacement of my son's iPhone.
You may think I have my concerns wrong. What about cash, food, lost bank cards or travellers cheques?
Permit me to explain my concept in finding a travel insurance provider who would also cover lost or damaged Android phone inside a policy.
Run right out of Money. If my son runs out of cash he will reach me immediately by telephone call, text message or even Skype on his iPhone. Without a telephone, he doesn't have any one to telephone straight away.
Run out of Food. If he as run straight out of food, he will share with me his location using Google maps. From there I can find out the nearest local city with a money machine, local bank or local superstore. I am able to then transfer cash to his account or wire to that local bank. Problem solved.
Lost bank cards. It wouldn't be the first time my boy has mislaid his bank cards. But should be lose his bank cards travelling Australia I will resolve his problem if I'm in contact with him through mobile phone. Again I'll wire money to the bank branch nearest to his location.
Lost Travellers Checks. After cancelling the lost cheques, I will either get other ones issued at the nearest bank or travel agent to his location or transfer money.
If his Android phone were lost, are you able to imagine the parental worry? While most parents complain about their children's use of their telephone, one incontestable fact is that the phone reduces the lack of communication and decreases the stress of without knowing where your kids are.
So the next time your kids make a decision to go travelling, ensure you ask about Android phone coverage within the travel insurance for students policy. Might be an absolute lifesaver.
