Just about every woman wants to have beautiful long eyelashes that draw attention to her eyes and accentuate her beauty. However not many actually have lashes like this so they must rely on mascara or artificial lashes to create this look. It is possible though to achieve naturally longer eyelashes by following these useful tips.

One easy way to help encourage lashes to grow more is to brush them. Several strokes on each side with a small lash brush before putting on mascara every day is all it takes. The brushing motion is thought to stimulate the eyelash follicles to grow.

Applying some petroleum jelly to the eyelids each night before bedtime is another effective tip that can help increase lash growth and make them thicker. It does not work right away but eventually results will be noticeable. Vitamin E can also be used in this respect instead of petroleum jelly. Egg whites left on the lashes for several minutes each day and then rinsed off can also help to fortify and strengthen them.

Applying olive oil or castor oil to the lashes can also been noted to increase their growth and strengthen them. Simply brush on the oil or rub it on with a finger every evening and leave it in place overnight. The following morning it can be rinsed off prior to putting on one's eye makeup.

There are two helpful products on the market which can also produce great results. Lash boosting mascaras contain ingredients that help stimulate eyelash growth while also serving the usual cosmetic purpose. Lash accelerator serums are sold in both prescription and non-prescription strength formulas. These products normally produce noticeably longer and thicker lashes after they are used for about two months, but this effect will fade if use is discontinued. Usually an occasional application can help maintain the effect.

One's diet can also affect the condition of the eyelashes as well. People who don't eat a nutritious and balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, and meats and instead ingest a large amount of fatty foods may find that their lashes do not seem to grow very much. Being healthy on the inside of the body will ultimately reflect on the appearance of the outside.

It can also be beneficial if one has the habit of removing all of her eye makeup as soon as possible. Doing so allows the lashes time to breathe which is necessary in order for them to remain healthy and not fall out readily. Avoiding the use of false eyelashes is also recommended since they can do considerable damage to the natural lashes from repeatedly attaching and removing them.

Lashes naturally fall out from time to time as does all hair, but when this happens excessively it's best to look into the matter further to determine the cause. Common reasons for lash fall-out include vitamin deficiencies, incomplete removal of eye makeup, and using old or waterproof mascara, but in some cases a medical condition is to blame, so it's best to consult a doctor. Most women will find that they grow longer eyelashes if they start including these practices into their daily beauty regimes.
