School is a place of learning and this can be done in various ways. Yes, you are able to pick up the knowledge that instructors give you, which is what ultimately determines whether or not you graduate later on, but what about in the sense of character? Is it possible that you will be able to learn more about yourself thanks to these experiences? I believe this to be true and I think it's one of the reasons why attention should be given to the best art colleges in the world.
Not only will you learn about your style of art from prestigious art colleges but it is likely to assume that you will pick up on various other elements about art as well. For example, before heading into one of these schools, you might not have much of an interest in sculpting if you're someone who loves painting. However, matters can change if you have been exposed to a particular medium long enough. In fact, I've seen it happen to a couple of my friends before.
In fact, a friend of mine went to school for graphic design, as he was someone who loved being able to use computers for everything. Whether it was for socialization or what have you, it was tough to get him away from his laptop, which was what partially led him to becoming interested in the field of graphic design. However, as he attended school, he was drawn to pastels and how they worked with his paper. Even though he was still heavily invested in graphic design, his focus shifted slightly.
What about the various mediums that one can consider when it comes to art in general as well? Perhaps you are someone who thought that working with charcoal was the best course of action. However, it is very possible that your interests can change with time and, instead, you are utilizing more pastels than anything else. It is okay for people to change their goals, as there are many people in school who go about this as well. It's just a matter of picking something best suited for you.
Sometimes the ability to get the most out of school is going to come more easily for some people than it will for others. I have no doubt that the best schools focused on art will be able to help in terms of boosting character and confidence but it's a process that is varied. Are you someone who feels like they aren't getting as much out of it right out of the gate? If this is the case, it is important to stay hopeful and to remain on the path you're on for a little while longer.
