Applications of farm chemicals can be quite demanding. When you opt for the old manual methods, the work can be quite costly and take a long time. It is therefore a wise idea to mechanize the way one applies the chemicals in their farm since it tends to be cost efficient and takes less time compared to manual methods. There are several things a farmer or a businessman should put into perspective if they want to acquire a lime spreader.

When one is planning to buy expensive farm equipment, the cost should be put into consideration. One is advised to make a list of all the brands of all the machines and their pricing for comparison. This is in a bid to ensure you are not overcharged by the dealers.

The size of the spreaders is determined by the measure of their volume in cubic meters. As the tanks are varying in sizes, so are the spreaders sizes. When visiting a dealer, one usually has their specifications depending on the size of their farms or their requirements. It is always advised that one should get a bigger spreader rather than restricting their selves on to specific size just in case there are changes in needs in future. It would not hurt to be prepared.

The spreaders are usually fabricated as independent machines mounted on trailers. They usually are fitted with everything required to do the job and just need t have a means of pulling. Some spreaders that come fully fitted in trucks. This is a more viable option that advised for those without tractor and or trucks. They also happen to be the most convenient way if one is considering for the commercialization of the service.

The spreader is an expensive piece of farm equipment. Therefore, it should be bought at once and it should serve the purpose for the longest time it can without breaking down or becoming obsolete. They should be made of strong yet durable material that is not easily corroded by the chemicals it spreads. The tank should also be made of a strong material that can support can withstand the pressure it uses for means of spreading the chemicals.

The boom is the arm of the spreader. Some are hydraulically operated while some are manually. The length of all the booms determines the amount of area covered in one pass during the chemicals application. The bigger the booms the larger the area covered and the faster the work is done. One is advised to get it with long but if possible adjustable booms to suit any on the farm.

The spreader should be easily operated for it to be much effective in the framer. This is because most of the operators in the farms are not skilled and it would pose a challenge to them to operate. The easier it is to operate; anyone can use the equipment thus making it convenient.

A spreader should be equipped with precise metering system. That ensures more control for the discharge from the booms. Such a system allows the spreader to be used in several other chemicals applications on the farm.
