You may have many questions about what being saved means. Some may ask, "What is the meaning of salvation?" Not all people think the same way, though there are similarities in all. All people believe that this involves the forgiveness of their sins. Not all believe the same way about how that happens, and the way to obtain it, however. Also, many believes it also involves other things than just forgiveness of sins.

Most all are in agreement that being saved means being forgiven of all sin. Many, however, believe that it also involves three other areas of life. The saved person also enjoys deliverance from evils both temporal and eternal. They also enjoy a free life from the evils of sin. Protection from earthly ills is also an aspect of this saving from sin. Not every person believes this way, though.

A person can be delivered from evil within two areas. One is the temporal and the other is the eternal. Temporal deliverance just means it has a limited amount of time. The eternal means there is no beginning or end to the event. When we accept God, we are relieved from the angst and shame of knowing we are participating in evil things. We can feel relieved that we no longer are under that influence. We are also relieved from the evils if the world around us.

Something else one enjoys when saved, according to some beliefs, is the freedom from sin and its control. Man must daily fight sin, as that is his nature. Once he is saved, however, he no longer has to fight this great evil. It no longer rules his life nor has dominion over the man. The ability to fight sin is enhanced when one is saved. He has a power over sin that God gives him.

Another part of accepting God and His law is that we get protection from dangers here on earth, some believe. In Psalms, God made a promise to the Israelite nation that He would protect them from disease, illness, famines, and other calamities of a world of sin, just as long as they accepted His law.

A person may wonder how one becomes saved. There are definite instructions in the Bible about how this happens. It involves belief and faith in Jesus Christ. After that must come an obedience to Him to show that belief and faith. This does not mean you can earn being saved. This obedience just proves your belief and faith. The Bible also says one must confess their faith in Jesus and put Him on in baptism. Omitting any one step is not following His will, as He requires all of it.

Some teach that once you are saved you will never loose it. That is not the case, according to others. Just as a drowning man who is rescued from the water can jump back in, a sinner who has been delivered can go back into their sin. The Bible says to continually work on your salvation, which means being faithful. It further says if we remain faithful until death, Jesus will give us a crown of life.

The hows and whys of being saved gets complicated, in reference to how one believes the Bible. However you believe, it is something to be desired to have a relationship with God. It would take a hardened person indeed to not want that.
