Landscaping edging materials are designed to resemble natural wood even though they are synthetic. These products are used to make edging around a landscape. A good example of these products are bender boards. There are numerous names which are used to refer to these products depending on the place one is located. The boards are usually manufactured using recycled plastic in the United States. The plastics are sourced from different places in the country.

The boards are sold in the form of coils that can be cut into any size that one needs. Because the material is not natural, it does not rot like wood does. Also, the product does not succumb to weather or splinter. It is because of these factors that many people prefer to buy these boards. The installation process is also fairly easy to perform with or without the help of an expert.

One does not need to repaint, re-stain, or provide any form of preventive maintenance like they would on wood of other natural synthetic materials. The material can maintain its good looks and beauty for long once it has been installed. In the long term, one can realize some cost savings. The product can also be installed in any kind of weather condition without worry.

It is important to begin by collecting all the necessary equipment, materials and tools required for installing edging materials before starting the job. Also, apart from buying enough stakes for installation, one should make sure that they purchase enough length of the edging material. There should be enough stakes for installation so that they can be placed at intervals of 4 to 5 feet apart.

Some of the tools that one needs for the job include a spade, knee pad, hand saw, and measuring tape. A long string is also needed to help with marking the borders of the landscaping where the edging material will pass through. In case the edging material is bought before one is ready to install it, they should use heavy stones to hold it in place.

The first step in the installation process is to mark the border that needs to be marked using a string. After marking the border, one should stand a few meters from it and take a look to ensure that the border looks fine. A trench should then be dug along the border using a spade. The trench should be shaped like a letter V so that the board will protrude one inch above the soil.

Once the trench has been finished, the board can be inserted into it. As it is being inserted, one should ensure that about an inch of the board remains above the ground. Stakes should be used to secure it in place. In case the board is to be cut, a hand saw should be used for this job.

The trench should be refilled on both sides of the board by shoveling dirt back in. A spade should then be used to tap it down. The board should form a beautiful border within which one can plant small trees, shrubs, or flowers among other kinds of plants. One can use this procedure to subdivide their compound into as many portions as necessary.
