Practice Exams - Teacher Certification Exam For Math

From kindergarten up to college, there are always math subjects. With this, there is a constant demand for Math teachers nationwide. If you are planning to shift or go for a teaching career, the basic Math teacher requirements in US are; a bachelor's degree from an accredited university AND an alternative teacher certificate, OR a state-approved degree that includes a teacher-training program. For post-secondary teaching jobs, most colleges or universities require at least a master's degree in a Math related field to earn an instructor position for freshmen college math.

For those who already have a bachelor degree and wants to shift to a History teaching career, most states require taking additional education units and history core subjects, which leads to master's degree. Popular graduate courses are Masters of Art in History or in Teaching - Secondary History education. Graduates of Anthropology or Social Sciences have an advantage when taking these graduate courses since most will have good background on History or Anthropology courses. Post baccalaureate programs include subjects in Teaching in K through 12, US Civilization, World Civilizations and History, Research Methods, Secondary Level American History, Archaeology, Anthropology and Social Science survey.

However, those who already have a bachelor degree, of any program, and want to shift career into Math teaching may be required to enroll in a state-approved teaching graduate degree before taking a certification exam. For example, in New York State, a graduate degree from an approved teacher-preparation program is initially needed, plus a passing mark in all assessment tests to get you certified. Some states also have GPA preferences, as for New York, a minimum of 2.5 GPA is required from the bachelor degree program. Most US states also require PRAXIS or pre-professional skills test before, during or after a teacher training program.

4) Once you feel you are ready to take a practice exam, sit down and do exactly that, practice. For example, I knew that my math certification exam had 90 problems in it and a 5 hour time limit. I took those 5 hours divided it by 90 questions to get an average of about 3 minutes per question so I strove to answer questions in that amount of time.

There are also accelerated programs for teaching licenses, which may accept foreign or interstate teachers. This accelerated teacher training includes screening tests for subject proficiency, as well as English communication proficiency. 5) Should you not pass the exam on your first try, please do not get discouraged. Look at this as a learning experience. Now you have seen an actual exam. Perhaps the material you had did not help you prepare sufficiently. Now that you know what the exam looks like you can go find some better material that will be more representative of the test. Use the topic list that you downloaded from the State Board of Education and check off each topic as you master it. If your preparation materials do not cover a topic, go out and get some additional reference material, it's always better to be over prepared than under prepared. Go out and conquer that exam the second time if you didn't get it the first time.
