Being a San Francisco project manager sure is not an easy thing to do. Not only does he have to reach a certain goal but he has to do it with a team, and managing a team has never been easy and it never will. It may not be very possible to become a perfect manager but that does not mean you cannot be a good one. Here some tips to be a good project coordinator.

Handling a set of people or for example in the corporate world, a team or department is very challenging. Apart from the success of the proposal in mind, which is the ultimate goal, a coordinator have to formulate a solid plan on how to start it and at the same time learn to adjust and deal with the different personalities and working attitude of his members.

Keep in mind that you are not aiming to be a perfect coordinator but a good one and an approachable one as well. One of the most important factor to consider in being a good coordinator is to know your role. You may lead the team or their "leader'' but it is important to remind yourself that your primary concern is your team and not yourself nor your position or reputation.

Everything about the team reflects on your character and competence hence focus your attention to them. Always remember that you are not put into that position just to lead but also to be the team's mentor, evaluator and coach. If you look at it closely, being a mentor, evaluator and coach is far from the technical roles of a leader.

That being said, a reputable coordinator will be able to identify the strength of each member or your team and utilize these strengths to its full potential. In other words, look for the strength towards each member of your team and use it as a leverage. This will surely make them feel valuable leading to a more positive work output.

For starters, coordinators are encouraged to consider three of the most common problems when working on a proposal. This includes time, scope and costs, usually termed as the triple constraint. As the proposal coordinator you have the full responsibility in making a remarkable plan and executing it very well.

When working with a team, proper and efficient delegation is important. More so, after you delegate, step back and allow the team to perform each of their own job. By getting out of their way, you are unconsciously instilling confidence and accountability to them. This will develop their skills as well as their decision making skills.

Indeed being a San Francisco project manager is a tough job. But with proper skills, success may not be too hard to reach.
