Why Organic Food Is Genuinely More Suitable For Your Health?

The notion of "organic food" has existed for centuries. Of late however, it is being more popular and has turned into quite a hype which is drawing many people into it. The organic food market is thriving because lots of men and women are taking an interest and they tend to be more expensive than non-organic food. As with every new trend, the question must be asked; Is all the positive reviews of organic food the true or is this merely another method to try and get more money from the general purchaser? Is the expense regarding organic food acceptable?

To determine all the information and facts, lets take an initial look at what the term "organic" truly means to us. The term "organic" in relation to food, signifies that it has not been modified unnaturally. Ionizing radiation, artificial hormones and chemically enhanced fertilizers are instances of things that are not used to accelerate or boost the food's growth or quantity. With regards to organic meat, eggs and daily products, these have had no antibiotics or growth hormones (GH) added to enhance the speed that they can be produced.

The terrain thats used to develop organic crops must go through a prolonged three year process before the crops can be called organic. For the first two years the fertility of the land needs to be established and only after that are crops allowed to be grown. A lot of hard work and time goes into organic food, hence its no surprise that its more expensive. But, is all that hard care worth it? Is organic foodstuff really going to make a substantial improvement to my health?

It definitely seems there are more rewards, as research has revealed that organic food is more nutritious. A sample of milk used by research workers confirmed up to twice as many natural antioxidants, 50% more Vitamin E and 70% more Beta Carotene then milk taken from regular cows. Organic food carries no additional compounds, including fertilizers and insecticides, which can be detrimental to your health. By not containing these carcinogenic chemicals the food is better for your health. The next benefit is a matter of opinion, as a large number of people say organic food tastes better than non organic, but again you cannot claim this as a fact because its down to ones individual preferences.

In the event that you choose to use organic foods, the good news is that its also beneficial for the eco-system. This is because organic food does not use any insecticides and pesticides when it is produced. Although this does take more effort and time, it has a positive effect on the environment with the absence of the chemicals that are usually used. This will all help with a lesser level of pollution during food production and thus will not have a harmful effect on global warming. When animals are not raised with the goal of selling organic foods, they are often mistreated by keeping them in tiny enclosures and force feeding them to encourage increased growth over a shorter amount of time whereas organic farmers tend to take good care of their animals, even allowing them to roam free.

And so organic foods are great for the environment, your health and ensures that the animals on the farms are treated well and not mistreated. Of course, as pointed out at the outset, the price of organic food can be substantially higher then normally produced food. But always remember that when shopping on the organic market you are doing something good for yourself and for the environment so personally I feel it is a small price to pay.
